Frostbound Fellowship advances campaign by reaching the tavern exit; outside remains under review.

The Frostbound Fellowship moved closer than ever this week to leaving The Frostbitten Turnip, reaching the front door after three sessions of planning, one recess for pastries, and a procedural dispute over whether “checking the vibe” constitutes an action.

Game Master Quillby Candlewick confirmed the door was unlocked.

This did not resolve the matter.

Exit Strategy Encounters Weather

The party’s stated objective remains the recovery of the lost Star of First Snow somewhere in Frostmere, guided by the Cursed Map of Winterdeep, a sentient document that has grown increasingly direct in its marginalia.

“Proceed with courage, if available,” the map wrote as the Fellowship gathered near the threshold.

Mournwick Frostbeard, wizard and editor-in-chief in another jurisdiction, cast Detect Draft and announced “narrative pressure from the north.”

Sir Nicelyndor the Certain immediately asked whether the pressure had submitted an ethics disclosure.

It had not.

Safe Road Again Identified

Pinewhistle Trailmark, ranger, once again identified the safe road out of town, noting a packed snow path, favorable wind, and “no visible curse activity beyond ordinary Tuesday levels.”

The room acknowledged the information.

The room did not use it.

Vesper Vanishcrumb instead investigated a suspicious bootprint near the umbrella stand, determining after two rolls and one snack break that it belonged to Crumbwick Sweetspoon, who had been standing there at the time.

“I was maintaining culinary perimeter control,” Sweetspoon said.

No charges were filed.

Map Issues Clarification

The Cursed Map of Winterdeep updated itself during play, replacing a jagged mountain route with an arrow pointing directly at the tavern door.

A second arrow then appeared beneath it.

A third arrow appeared after the Fellowship debated whether arrows could be trusted.

“Still waiting,” the map wrote.

Boltina Gearglow attempted to improve the map with a brass compass clamp, two screws, and a small gear labeled “confidence.” The device spun once, pointed at the soup, and resigned.

Candlewick ruled the resignation binding.

Established During Session Four

  • The Frostbound Fellowship has physically reached the tavern door.
  • The door is unlocked, nonmagical, and emotionally complicated.
  • Frostmere lies beyond the village road, where the Star of First Snow is believed to remain missing.
  • The Cursed Map of Winterdeep can now underline its own disappointment.
  • Pinewhistle Trailmark knows the safe road.
  • The party continues to prefer alternatives.

Threshold Vote Deferred

After extended debate, Velveta Starcloak proposed opening the door “with appropriate dramatic presence.” Scribella Swiftquill seconded the motion for documentation purposes.

The party opened the door.

Cold air entered.

The Fellowship saw the road, the snow, and beyond it the first dark line of Frostmere’s pines.

Then someone asked whether the party had paid its tab.

At press time, the party had not left the tavern.

The map wrote, “Define ‘left.’”
